Today I worked with an “old school” auto electric firm in Portland, Oregon to bench test and car test three (3) sets of generators and Ford mechanical regulators. Only one of the three Ford mechanical regulators worked properly. When we bench tested and on-the-car-tested your DRM, the results were rather astonishing! The system charges a few amps at an idle (about 800 engine RPMs) and charges a full 30 amps for a few seconds after staring the engine (cold start using some stored battery energy).
The Portland auto electric firm was very impressed so I provided the Clover Systems information to them for future vintage car owners who want to retain a generator. I closed the engine bonnet on my Tiger and asked one of the employees to watch the ammeter and observe how my “alternator” was doing. He said, “yes, it is working exactly as an alternator and internal regulator should perform. When you activate the lights and accessories the alternator adjusts accordingly.”. Then I opened the bonnet and showed him the generator he had just seen on the bench, along with the “fake” Ford voltage regulator. He was very surprised.
There are some alternatives as you know. One of them is a Gener-Nator (www.gener-nator.com), however the price is over $1,000 including freight and the generator core they need.
In summary, it is refreshing to find a product on the Internet and have it meet and exceed the manufacturer’s claims. You have an excellent product. I couldn’t be more pleased.

It took a while but now I had the chance to install the DR310 controller and compare it with the old electro-mechanical solution on a ride with my old Jaguar.
This is what I hoped and expected from a good functioning controller.
The classic controller most of the time stops to charge the battery after some time, although the battery is far from fully-charged. With the head bulbs etc. on I saw the battery to become discharged in time.
Now I see a stable charge on the ampmeter (off course decreasing over time) and still charging even if all lights and head bulbs are on.
The Volts reading is app. 1 Volt higher (13,3 – 13,7V) than in the classical way at 2.000 rpm.
Installation was easy and with the old cover on nobody sees the new electronics in it that do the job.
This looks good and I will keep it unchanged, as far as adjustment is concerned, as you indicated.
Thanks very much for your great service, supply and advise; this will not be the last one you delivered to the EU / Holland!

Maximum open circuit voltage was 14.5 V at about 15oC ambient temperature.

I received my SunBook netbook today, and absolutely love it. I’m thrilled to be out in the sunlight, working on my new suspense novel and having no problem whatever seeing the words on the Pixel Qi LED backlit transflective LCD display screen. It’s like a miracle. We have short summers here in New Brunswick, Canada and I don’t want to miss a minute of it, and with SunBook, I won’t have to. Thank you, thank you.

I’m delighted with my new SunBook. I bought it to get relief from eye strain caused by long hours looking at my laptop screen. I was suffering not just from sore eyes but from fatigue and headaches. I had already found significant help from switching to an LED lit screen, but needed more relief. I heard about the un-lit Pixel Qi screen and have been waiting for a computer using one. The SunBook is the first affordable computer with a dual lit/ un-lit screen option.
I was a bit apprehensive buying such a new product, so was very reassured when it arrived and I found that it is a modified version of a Samsung netbook, a brand I like. I’m not reviewing the netbook itself, except to say it works exactly as I expected it to with rapid boot-up.
I bought the SunBook specifically for the screen options. I need a screen that I can use indoors, with no back light, using the room lights only. This is because I had realized that my tiredness and headaches were a result of looking directly at the lighting. I was a little disappointed at first glance by the unlit display. Compared to my Kindle, which has a very light gray background, the Sun Book screen is a little darker and the color is a greenish gray. In un-lit mode, the picture is presented in shades of slightly olive neutrals. However, it is clear. Text is easily readable in my bedroom with only the external room lighting and the screen not back-lit. This is what I needed. Video footage is also viewable under these conditions, although there is certainly some compromise, especially since I watch a lot of poor quality news footage, but the option is always available to flip the light on to see the scene in radiant full color.
I am truly grateful to Clover for making this a possibility for me. I have not had a headache from using the computer since I started using it and I feel much less tired after a day’s work.

I am a geostatistician and do a fair amount of work outdoors.
I bought one of these little puppies last week and it works great for my purposes in full direct sunlight. The screen is much better in direct sunlight than my Panasonic tough book U1 which I plan to sell on eBay shortly. Also the U1 keyboard is tiny and I prefer a touchpad to tapping on the screen with the pointing stick. Of course I cannot drop the SunBook from a height of 4 feet or do a hot change on the battery but for a price of 2.5 SunBooks per U1, the SunBook is a much better deal for my purposes.
$749 is expensive for a netbook but if you figure $400 for a Samsung netbook + $275 for the screen that works out to $675 + your time for installing it plus probably voiding your warranty on your net book. So I figured an extra $75 for a net book with a one-year warranty was worth it.
My only complaint about the SunBook is that if you close the SunBook it turns itself off and goes into an instant on mode. (sleep is the only option on lid close in the control panel power section) When and if I solve the lid close action, the SunBook is almost perfect for my needs.

I received my SunBook computer back in May and I’ve been using it for about a month and a half now. I wanted to reply and say that I am thoroughly enjoying it and it has solved my problem with eye irritation and eyestrain. I use it outdoors at the park or while my kids are in soccer practice and it works great. While indoors I usually keep my desk light on and turn the backlighting off and it works fine. Ten years ago I was telling my wife that someday I’m going to have to find a computer monitor that is easier on my eyes. We’ll the SunBook was the answer. Thank the Lord.
